Because mirzam and canopus are forcing an exit after I log in at the gui, I looked
up how to force a console terminal login. Looks like control-alt-f<something>, where “something” is a number that is operating system dependent. Ditto to get back to gui . . .
Note: Dan later found that mirzam and canopus weren’t mounting thuban2’s directories, most notably including home directories. That’s why logins were so messed up!
